The Applied Physics concentration combines fundamental course work in physics with a selection of courses in a related field. One hour of lecture and one three hours laboratory period per week. Course may be repeated for credit with instructor's approval. Each course in physics, mathematics, chemistry and English that is required for the major must be completed with a âCâ (2.0) or better. Participation in undergraduate research is strongly encouraged since it enhances practical training and expands employment opportunities, as well as being expected of anyone applying to research-based graduate programs. Bachelor of Sciences in Applied Physics for the AS-T (TMC) Degree Only. Units required for Major: 74-76Total units required for BS: 120. The Physics major begins with an emphasis on fundamentals in the basic sciences and mathematics to provide students with a broad foundation. Be able to communicate the results of experiments and theoretical analyses in writing and orally. Dept. PHY 346 Thermal Physics (3). Students who have completed an A.S. from a Colorado community college and satisfied all the requirements for the Colorado community college articulation agreement need only 60 credits at CSU. Physics is the most fundamental science and underlies our understanding of nearly all areas of science and technology. An agreement in place with the CSU Fullerton College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science allows students to satisfy all of the courses requirements for admission to an MS program at CSU Fullerton. At Cal State East Bay students can choose between a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Have the contemporary skills and knowledge necessary for entry-level positions in a variety of occupations or for admission to graduate or professional schools. The B.S. Physics graduates possess excellent mathematical and analytical skills that are useful in business and finance as well. Physics Major. Both of these concentrations can be completed in four years, as long as the student starts physics coursework in their second term. Subsequent course work is designed to develop analytical and experimental abilities that allow students to solve problems involving the technical applications of physics. The BA degree is designed for students interested in fields that benefit from a strong background in physics or for those planning to terminate their education at the bachelor's degree level. Both require Master's degrees in the discipline, and a Physics major is the preferred undergraduate preparation. last updated 2011-09-09 by JST Email: phys.astro@sonoma.edu , Phone: (707)664-2119, Fax: (707)664-3378 works with physics majors, engineering physics majors, and physics minors only Transfer students entering CSU in a Fall term with an A.S. degree from a community college and appropriate coursework (two semesters of calculus-based physics and three semesters of calculus) can generally expect to complete a Physics major at CSU in five semesters (with one semester of planned undergraduate leave, in the spring of the second year). Psychology is the study of human behavior and is one of the most-popular and versatile majors at CSU. Minor. The PDF will include all information unique to this page. All physics majors are required to take a core set of courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Communications. PHYS 11 A, B, and C is a three semester course in introductory physics requiring elementary calculus. The University Catalog contains our degree requirements and course descriptions. It is the most fundamental of sciences, and provides the essential underpinning of chemistry, biology, astronomy, and geology. We undertake the rigorous training of students in our discipline and assist in building a strong scientific foundation for students in other degree programs. The Physics major begins with an emphasis on fundamentals in the basic sciences and mathematics to provide students with a broad foundation. The Bachelor of Science in Physics ; The Minor in Physics Welcome to the Department of Physics at Colorado State University! ...then you should consider an Applied Physics Major! PH 141 Physics for Scientists and Engineers I (GT-SC1) Credits: 5 (3-2-1) Course Description: Forces, energy, momentum, angular momentum, oscillations, waves, heat, thermodynamics (calculus based). The Applied Physics concentration is ideal for students who are double-majoring in other technical disciplines, or who anticipate further education towards a career in health professions (including, notably, Medical Physics).
